All-Time Eagles Simulation: Week 1 Recap

Louie DiBiase

It was an opening week to remember in the Locked On Eagles all-time simulation. After drafting four rosters made up of the best players the Eagles history has to offer, the lineups were put to the test through simulations on Madden 2004.

Game #1: Louie DiBiase vs Lars Lewis

Typically an offensive gameplay on the PlayStation 2 became an unexpected defensive fist fight between Louie and Lars in the season opener.

Starting QBs Carson Wentz and Randall Cunningham combined for five interceptions, not even finishing with 100 passing yards between the two.

The defenses on each side would set up all of the points in the first half through interceptions from Cre’Von LeBlanc, Lito Sheppard, and Mychal Kendricks.

Lars’s defensive line finished with seven sacks, including three a piece from DE Brandon Graham and DT Michael Bennett.

Louie’s defensive unit completely shut down what might be the tournament’s most explosive offensive duo in WR DeSean Jackson and RB  LeSean McCoy.

The difference? Wentz and Team DiBiase were able to make the few plays Team Lewis could not on offense, taking a 9-6 victory. A 20 yard completion from Wentz to WR Harold Carmichael followed by a 15-yard run from Wentz set up what would become the game-winning field goal.

The run by Wentz was a statement play as Team DiBiase’s face of the franchise stiff armed legendary LB Seth Joyner into the turf.

LB Frank LeMaster put the game on ice intercepting Cunningham with less than two minutes to play .

Players of the game:

Team DiBiase CB Lito Sheppard- 3 TOT 1 TFL 3 PBU 1 INT

Team Lewis: FS Cre’Von LeBlanc- 4 TOT 2 TFL 2 INT

Game #2: Gino Cammilleri vs Jordan Hansgen

The audience was rewarded for fighting through such an offensive snooze fest in Game #2 where Jordan Hansgen and Gino Cammilleri found themselves in an absolute roller coaster of a matchup.

Team Hansgen led by Michael Vick and Brian Westbrook looked the part of what listeners voted as the preseason favorite early, leading 19-0 early in the third quarter. Westbrook ran for two touchdowns while Vick gave Gino’s defense fits through the air, and on the ground.

The connection between Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens was nowhere to be found for most of the game, thanks in large part to a stellar three quarters from CB Asante Samuel, but McNabb and Cris Carter started up a firestorm of production to get Gino back in the game.

Team Cammilleri would score on three straight drives to go up 20-19. All three touchdowns came through the air from McNabb to Owens, TE Chad Lewis, and Carter.

The lead would go back and forth after Vick and Team Hansgen marched back down the field after losing their lead for the first time all game, to regain the advantage 27-20.

After a rushing touchdown from McNabb tied the game at 27 with just minutes left, both teams tried their very best to throw the game away.

Already in field goal range, Team Cammilleri RB Miles Sanders did the unthinkable with just :50 seconds left. Team Hansgen LB Chuck Bednarik crashed through the B gap to wrap up Sanders who then fumbled the ball before hitting the ground.

Vick had a chance to finish what he started…..but a reception to Mike Quick on 2nd and 10 suddenly turned disastrous when he too fumbled the football, and CB Troy Vincent recovered.

The booth reviewed the play but Hansgen’s lifelong was taken away when the play stood.

David Akers finished the job for Gino, hitting the game-winning field goal as time expired.
