Injury Impact: Eagles-Seahawks Report

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

QUESTIONABLE

LB Joe Walker (neck)

Walker suffered what appeared to be a stinger on special teams in last weeks’ win over the Chicago Bears. He did not practice this week. If he’s out, LB Najee Goode will likely see more playing time.

Walker has been primarily a two-down back for the Eagles, subbing out in the nickel package. There’s good reason for this as linebackers Nigel Bradham and Mychael Kendricks have excelled in coverage while Walker has allowed an egregious 2.07 yards per route run per Pro Football Focus.

The Eagles could also activate LB Dannell Ellerbe for depth purposes, but he’s only had three weeks and is still learning the system.

“The biggest thing for me is the terminology,” Ellerbe said. “It’s totally different from what I’m used to. I feel like I’d be good if I get into the game. Can I stand here and say that I know everything? No way. Hell no. But, I like the scheme. It’s been working so far.”

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

OUT

OL Oday Aboushi (shoulder)

LB Josh Forrest (foot)

SAF Kam Chancellor (neck)

DOUBTFUL

DL Dion Jordan (neck)

DL Nazair Jones (ankle)

QUESTIONABLE

OT Duane Brown (ankle)

TE Jimmy Graham (ankle)

LB Bobby Wagner (hamstring)

LB DJ Alexander (shoulder)

SAF Earl Thomas (heel)

Neither DL Jordan or Jones participated in practice on Friday and the early indication from Head Coach Pete Carroll is that they will likely be out on Sunday night.

Jones has been a solid contributor for the Seahawks as a rotational piece and Jordan has amassed 1 sack and 5 pressures on 25 snaps. Expect more snaps from former Eagles first round bust Marcus Smith in Jordan’s expected absence.

OT Brown hasn’t surrendered a snap since joining the Seahawks via trade, something it feels like no Seahawks tackle has done in the Super Bowl era. After not practicing all week, Brown was a full participant Friday and looks full go for Sunday.

Also practicing in full was TE Graham, who leads the league in red zone targets and has been a dangerous weapon for the Seahawks with a condensed field.

The Seahawks have been careful with LB Wagner over the last couple of weeks, limiting his practice week reps and keeping his fresh for games. It’s something to monitor but it likely won’t affect his performance on game day. Wagner is top 5 in all four Pro Football Focus Signature Stats for off ball linebackers.

SAF Earl Thomas was a Friday edition to the injury report but all indications are that he is dealing with some minor soreness in his foot and his status isn’t in much question.

“He had something we just tended to yesterday, a sore foot,” Carroll said. “And that was it. Not a big deal.”
